The term "migraine" usually brings to mind a severe type of headache. But visual disturbances with or without headache pain also can accompany migraine processes thought to be related to changes in blood flow in the brain. These visual problems associated with migraines technically are known as ophthalmic migraines. read more on this site http://www.allaboutvision.com/conditions/ocular-migraine.htm it tells you the Symptoms, What to Do if I Have it, and Treatments…hope i helped

The visual disturbances experienced prior too and in the beginning stages of a migraine, occasionally without the migraine pain (but for me, always a precursor to the debilitating pain).
Basically what happens to me is first something smells funny but no one else can smell it, and I can’t stand the smell of cooking food. Then my eyes start to go kind of blurry, like I’ve been reading too much but no matter how much I blink it won’t clear. Then I’ll be able to see either the top half or bottom half of my field of vision and the rest is blurry/blank or black. Very hard to walk or focus on anything.
After that the progression is extreme sensitivity to noise and the agonizing pain of the actual headache, usually centered on one side of the head and above the one eye. A migraine for me will last from 4 to 12 hours with up to 24 hours afterwards of just feeling spacy.
I know the cause of my migraines (sinus issues) but many migraines have no identifiable cause and can actually be often and severe enough to qualify for disability. They have special pain killers for migraines and for me I need to take sinus medications (in fact if I can take them at the very beginning when my smell goes off, I can prevent the entire episode) but if you are only experiencing the opthalmic symptoms and an eye doctor can not find any cause, I don’t believe there is much that can be done except to sit in a dark room and rest until it’s over.
